Teta means Grandma in Arabic.
This project is dedicated to my Teta and is a fun way to poke some holes at anti-aging pressures. We believe in aging gracefully, but also owning our wrinkles.
My teta's name was Itidal, which means “justice” in Arabic.
Giving was both natural to her and an art she was constantly mastering. I have always been in awe of her
ability to stay soft through the darkness. She always managed to preserve a loving playfulness. It's
paramount to us that we carry on her sweet touches in meaningful ways.
In efforts to help our Earth breathe, each online purchase supports an organization that plants trees
and works to preserve our precious forests. Inside of our mailers, you'll find wildflower seeds to feed our
medicine-giving pollinators. Plant in your garden or anywhere you think bees, birds, and butterflies could
use a little pick-me-up.
All of our products are designed, meticulously formulated and bottled by hand with love at our studio in Austin, TX.

We formulate all of our products with organic ingredients and are continually sourcing the highest quality botanicals we can find, whether they are certified organic and/or ethically wildcrafted. Currently all of our ingredients except for the licorice oil is organic. Our licorice oil is wild-harvested.
I was surprised to learn that essential oils were not the idea I had been sold. Yes, they are natural, but they also become photo-toxic while left on the skin, they are so potent that they do deep layer damage to our skin, and depending on the oil they can be endocrine disruptors, and lastly they are highly unsustainable. I feel very passionate about educating people about this because there's such a widespread misconception and use of these on the market.
Clearing blemishes, brightening hyperpigmentation, replenishing dry skin, calming redness & inflammation, rebuilding collagen.
Has been shown to clear and deeply moisturize the skin. Has been used as an aftershave, pre and post suncare. Has been used to heal sunburns and face tattoos.
This oil has many uses and we always love to hear how you use it <3
Many of our ingredients have been found to actually amp up the efficacy of SPF. Some of those ingredients include: Camellia seed oil, Raspberry seed oil, Kakadu Plum oil and Pomegranate seed oil. Many of these have been shown in studies to boost the effectiveness of UV protection by 20%. This does not mean these oils are a substitute for SPF. Never solely rely on oils to be your sun protection.
This product is made in partnership with a Hawaiian farm, all non-active ingredients are grown there and made into this food-grade, organic sunscreen cream.
Because Hawaii is aware of the costs to marine wildlife, they see and feel the impact there and as a result have some of the most up-date research and strict sunscreen laws.

More information from the EWG regarding chemical sunscreens:
In 2021, the Food and Drug Administration, which governs sunscreen safety, proposed its most recent updates to sunscreen regulations. It found that only two ingredients, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, could be classified as safe and effective, based on the currently available information.
12 other ingredients were proposed as not generally recognized as safe and effective due to insufficient data: avobenzone, cinoxate, dioxybenzone, ensulizole, homosalate, meradimate, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene, oxybenzone, padimate O, and sulisobenzone.
The FDA has required additional safety data because of health concerns and studies by the agency that show these ingredients can be absorbed through the skin.
But in recent years, many studies have also raised concerns about endocrine-disrupting effects of three ingredients: homosalate, avobenzone and oxybenzone.
- In 2021 the European Commission published preliminary opinions on the safety of three organic ultraviolet, or UV filters, oxybenzone, homosalate and octocrylene. It found that two of them are not safe in the amounts at which they’re currently used. It proposed limiting concentration to 2.2 percent for oxybenzone and 1.4 percent for homosalate.
- U.S. sunscreen manufacturers are legally allowed to use these two chemicals at concentrations up to 6 and 15 percent, respectively. Hundreds of sunscreens made in the U.S. use them at concentrations far above the European Commission’s recommendations.
- The ingredients oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and avobenzone are all systemically absorbed into the body after one use, according to the studies published by the FDA. The agency also found they could be detected on the skin and in the blood weeks after they had last been used.
- Other studies have reported finding these sunscreen ingredients in breast milk, urine and blood plasma samples.
I understand that it sounds counter intuitive, cause I myself have been there. But adding oil into your routine will calm your skin's production of oil, resulting in a more balanced complexion. For oily skin, if the skin is stripped of natural oils, it will go into overproduction mode and causes more sebum buildup, so using an oil can help replenish your skin’s natural oils, which can keep oil levels balanced and breakouts at bay. It is important though to use non-comedogenic oils as not all oils are easy for the skin to absorb. For example, If you have sensitive skin or acne prone please stay away from coconut oil.
All of our ingredients are non-comedogenic oils. Our base oil is Safflower oil which is a 0 on the scale, meaning it will not clog pores.
It's of major importance to us that not only are the plants well taken care of but that the community of people growing them are too. We only partner with producers that share our values and are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of farmers, harvesters, distillers, and their communities. They do this through fair labor conditions, facilitating community development and environmental stewardship.
All of our ingredients are grown sustainably and ethically in their place of origin for maximum potency.
Our producers nurture plants using organic growing practices and when ingredients are wild harvested they are reverent to the land and harvest responsibly. Currently only one of our ingredients is wild-harvested.
We proudly know exactly where each ingredient comes from, when, and how it was harvested, and we require full documentation and composition testing on any ingredient we introduce in order to ensure complete, unadulterated purity.
All of our products are gender neutral and formulated to be gentle enough for sensitive and problematic skin types. In fact these were made with sensitive skin in mind. We recommend allowing 2 weeks for your skin to adapt to a new product. As all skin is unique and can interact differently with botanical ingredients, we recommend performing a patch test prior to use. If you have any specific concerns or illnesses, please consult a physician before using.
All of our products are cruelty-free and we will never test on animals. We will never source from a supplier who is unable to prove the same. All of our products are vegan except for our Lip Balm which uses locally and ethically-sourced, certified organic beeswax.
We do not use any synthetic preservatives in our products. Many of our base oils and ingredients are highly stable and reduce oxidation. The ultraviolet glass bottle can preserve the formula for up to 2 years. Though we know you'll use it up much faster than that :) The handblown glass bottles are without the extra protection of the UV glass but still have the same ingredients that are highly stable and resistant to oxidation.
Our products are 100% organic and wild-harvested, without any essential oils. But we always recommend consulting your physician before using any oils/product.
Due to our natural formulations and the nature of our fresh ingredients, we recommend using within 3 - 6 months (depending on the product) to ensure maximum efficacy. Our UV bottles protect the potency and integrity of the ingredients for up to 2 years, though you will probably use up before.
Additionally, because we've now moved to a push pump bottle the oil is no longer exposed to oxygen with each use, further preserving the integrity of this oil.
Always store your products in a dark, dry place away from direct heat, and remember to close bottles tightly after each use to prevent oxidation. Refrigeration is not required but always helps to extend shelf life and keep products fresh.
We use unrefined, minimally processed botanical ingredients in order to retain their healing properties as much as possible. These ingredients are not mass-produced or standardized, therefore, variations in color and scent can occur between batches and seasons. This is completely normal and we take care to make our products in small batches to ensure quality remains consistent. If you have any specific questions or concerns regarding a product you purchased, please get in touch at hi@teta.studio

We are continually searching for innovative and eco-friendly packaging solutions and are committed to reducing our footprint as best we can.
